A Penny for my Thoughts
Have you lost your memory? The Orphic Institute for Advanced Studies can help, with its revolutionary Mnemosyne™ treatment process. By ordering this useful treatment guide, you can learn how to get your memory—and your life—back. Our goal at the Institute to provide treatment for conditions that traditional medicine has deemed incurable. In the case of acute global amnesia, we have come to rely on Mnemosyne, an experimental drug that allows those who take it to access one another’s unconscious memories. A flow chart providing an overview of the process can be seen hereThe staff of Confuzzled have invited us to provide a demonstration treatment for 4-5 patients as part of the convention events, and attendees are invited to come and take part in the therapy process to remember the events of their past which due to their traumatic nature may have been forgotten by the patients. Please register with our skilled treatment operative - Dr. Zuki Akula for addition to the patient list. Further Train Reservations Update
Just a quick note to advise that Train Reservations are now open for most Train Companies up to the 15th of May, so you can now book to get home from the convention. :D
Train Reservations NOW OPEN (sort of)
Just a quick note to advise that most Train Companies now have reservations open for weekdays up until the 8th of May (or thereabouts), so you can now book tickets to get to ConFuzzled (but not back as yet, though that's not a problem if you get one of the cheap "Advance" tickets, as those are sold as Singles).Having done a spot of playing with the system, the best deals are to be had by booking to Manchester Piccadilly, then getting a separate ticket for the trip to the Airport (from where there are normal buses every 10 minutes to the Hotel, as well as the Shuttle every 45 minutes or so).Alternatively, walk (or get Metrolink) from Piccadilly to Piccadilly Gardens, from where three routes run to the Hotel.
ConFuzzled 2010 Update!
We've had an unprecedented level of registrations this year and as such we have nearly filled all the hotel rooms we were intially allocated. We are now pleased to annouce that we have managed to secure an additional 25 rooms - giving a total of 50 extra residential places for the convention. This brings our total capacity to 350 (including attending only registrations). Head over to our website to register today! For those of you in double or twin rooms, why not indulge in a bit more luxury? Upgrade to superior accomodation for just £5 each per night! Superior rooms are larger than standard rooms and come with a spa bath, a sofa or comfy chair, a coffee table and air conditioning controls. If you would like to upgrade to a superior type room, then please send the Registration Team an email at registration@confuzzled.org.uk with your registration ID, asking how to upgrade your double/twin room. We're still open for attendees to sign up to take part in many of our exciting events, read more about them here: http://community.livejournal.com/confuzzledlj/55336.html
ConFuzzled Motorfurs Meet
Hello there, Kyyanno T Cheetah here, with a request for any petrolheads attending ConFuzzled this year! After a successful Motorfurs Meet event at EuroFurence last year, I'm planning on running a similar event at ConFuzzled this year, now that we have a location with enough space (albeit still limited) to park more vehicles. It's going to be on Saturday the 8th, but the time is undetermined right now, and this is where you come in. I'm asking here and also on the UKFur Motorfurs and CF forums, as people reading those threads are more likely to be attending the meet. So, you have a choice - do you want the meet in the morning or after lunch? The two timeslots available are 11am-1pm, or 2pm-4pm.(Just as an aside, if you like a beer or three with dinner, then either pick the morning slot, or stay sober over lunch as anyone showing up with a vehicle who is suspected to have consumed alcohol beforehand will not be permitted to attend)Vote away, and after a couple of weeks I'll collate the opinions here and on the forums, and give you the event time!I respectfully ask that you only vote on a timeslot if you are considering attending this event.See you there!

ConFuzzled Related.
Hello Everyone :)You may or may not have heard recently that i'm resigning as chairman of ConFuzzled. Well, before any false rumours start flying around, I'd like to advise you this is true. As of Tuesday, I've handed the convention to our very capable vice chairman, Dingotush who is heading up the interim team in charge of the convention. The convention itself has been a whirlwind adventure for me over the past 4 years, from its initial conception at EF12 to the first convention in 2008, to the wondrous things planned for ConFuzzled 2010. If you had to ask me, i'd do it all over again in a heartbeat and i'm incredibly thankful for the breadth of talent and brilliant things the team have achieved so far. Some of the things planned for next year's convention continue to blow me away and i'm incredibly proud of everyone involved. Running a convention for many years takes it out of anyone, and sometimes we need a bit of a break, which is exactly what i'm going to do. I'm taking a break for a while to concentrate on more personal endeavours. I can say for sure that the convention will continue to grow and be successful without my involvement because of the great team involved. Rest assured, the team are very proud of what I've achieved as well and I will be back on the team at some point in the future. Thanks to everyone for the great memories you've given and i'll see you at the convention in May for a fantastic time! :)
A message from the Board of Directors
It is with regret that the staff of ConFuzzled must announce the departure of our chairman, FurbleFox. He has chosen to step down from his role, for his own personal reasons.Over the years, he has put a large amount of time and effort into making the convention what it has become, and without him it would likely never have happened. For everything he has done, we are hugely grateful and owe him the most sincere thanks. An announcement will follow soon regarding the appointment of the new chairman of the convention, and we hope that you will join us in welcoming them to the role as we prepare fervently for 2010. We look forward to seeing you all in May for another incredible ConFuzzled!Dingotush, Exiled Wolf & NallConFuzzled Directors
It's that time once more!
We're looking for artists and writers again! There's just six months to go until ConFuzzled 2010! Between now and the end of February, the CF staff will be looking for fine examples of original anthropomorphic art and writing of a distinctly scientific style. If you feel like you have something you would like to see featured in print that 250+ people will take home with them, then please submit it to us. Details on how to do so are at the end of this post. I know this seems like a lot of text, but please follow it to make sure you submit material that will look excellent when printed. The theme for ConFuzzled 2010 is ‘Science!’, so please ensure it fits the theme. If you are creating art: We cannot accept sketches, because they don't print very well.We would prefer colour images, because unlike other conventions' conbooks our entire conbook is in glorious CMYK colour. However, greyscale and monochrome images are fine too.The shortest edge of the image should be no less than 900 pixels. This is so that your image is in a high enough resolution to print. If you are scanning hand-drawn art, then make sure to scan it at 300DPI.If you can, please set your colour space to CMYK. If we receive work in RGB, we will convert it for you. However, by doing this some bright, vibrant colours can look dulled, darker and a little less intense. Be sure to check how your piece will look in CMYK in your image editor to ensure you know how it will turn out. Please save the file as a PNG, PDF, JPG, AI or PSD. We'd prefer PNG for bitmap images and PDF for vector images.Adobe Illustrator users are advised to use the crop area tool to help our page layout software work out boundaries as you intended. If you are writing a story: Please send it as either TXT or RTF. Word and OpenOffice users can export their work as RTF easily.Don't include any images or excessive formatting except for bold and italic, as your work will be made to fit in with the style of the rest of the book. Before submitting, please bear in mind the following: You don't need to attend the convention to submit work! It's a shame if you can't make it, but that's no reason not to show off what you can do. Please send us some art or writing even if you'll not be attending. We can't guarantee that your submission will definitely be published. We have only a limited amount of space to feature submissions and we will cherry pick what we feel works best. Please don't be offended if your work does not get published. The conbook is published under a Creative Commons license (BY-NC-ND 2.0 UK) and if you submit your work, you agree to let us publish your work under it too. To find out what that means for you, visit http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/uk/We can't send a final proof prior to printing as the final layout of the book could remain in flux until the day of printing. If you're in the book when we send it to print, we'll try to let you know by email. We also cannot guarantee that the quality control team will proof-read your work, so please make sure your spelling and grammar are all checked out before you submit. We’d like people to see more of what you do, so when you submit work, please supply us with a link to your website, gallery page, livejournal or wherever else you display your work. Please keep it clean! Although the convention itself is for people of 18 years or over, the conbook is a souvenir we want people to proudly show off, and for that we need you to refrain from submitting sexually explicit artwork and stories. In summary: Submit non-sketch CMYK art at 300DPI (shortest edge a minimum of 900px), preferably in PNG or PDF format.Submit writing in RTF or TXT format, without images and without excessive formatting.Supply a link. The final date for submissions is February 28th 2010. If you're ready to send out materials, please attach them in an email to output@confuzzled.org.uk.
It's all groovy baby!
