NEC Grounds Security
Outdoor Security
In previous years, problems with anti-social behavior from external individuals has disrupted the safety of our attendees walking between locations external to the Hilton. This has primarily affected those walking between the Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Moxy, and Resorts World.
These areas are primarily considered NEC Birmingham property. As such, badged security guards employed by the Hilton, are not themselves able to act or patrol in these areas, due to legal limitations.
ConFuzzled have now been able to make paid-for arrangements with the NEC, who will provide three, high-profile roaming security staff to patrol the grounds.
This will cover the areas of the NEC grounds between the Hilton, Resorts World, the Arden, and the Crowne. The staff will be on duty during peak times that have been identified as being when incidents typically occurred in previous years.
We hope this will enable you to feel safer in the grounds as you walk between locations.
The ConFuzzled ConOps team will also be able to directly contact the NEC security team via radio. This means we should be able to execute more rapid responses to reports of incidents, and not rely on waiting for a Police response, which often would take too long.
We’ll also have CCTV camera insights, as well as information fed through via other NEC staff. In addition, the NEC security have a more direct connection with local Police, which they will be able to use on our behalf where deemed necessary.
The safety of our attendees is of the uppermost importance to us. We want to make sure that the experience you have of ConFuzzled as a safe space to be yourself is not damaged by external interference, and hope that these new security arrangements will go some way to helping.
As always, if you need assistance during the convention, please ask a steward, a member of staff, or contact the ConFuzzled team via either Telegram, or phone (details of both will be shared soon).
