ConFuzzled now accepts Digital ID


ConFuzzled is pleased to announce that we can now accept Digital ID as a means to prove your identity and age when collecting your con-badge at the convention. PLEASE READ the below to learn more about the requirements.

Three forms of Digital ID have now been accredited to the ‘PASS’ Proof-of-Age Standards Scheme. This is part of ‘Digital ID Connect’. As such we can now accept them at ConFuzzled. This, in turn, means you can now use your smartphone to present ID.

What ID is Accepted?

Alongside our usual forms of ID (e.g. Drivers’ License (including provisional), Passport, ID Cards bearing the ‘PASS’ hologram etc), we now also accept the following:

  • Yoti ID
  • Post Office Easy ID
  • Llloyd’s Bank Smart ID

If you have verified your identity correctly inside one of the above apps, then your digital ID, shown inside the app, will be accepted.

If more Digital ID providers are accepted into Digital ID Connect, and also are able to display a virtual PASS Hologram and 18+ verification, alongside name & Date-of-Birth, then these will be accepted also.

⚠️ Essential Requirements

You must:

  • 📃 Validate your identity within the app, this can be through a direct verification process with documentation you can provide, or a ‘quick’ check of existing ID you may have which has already been through verification.
  • 🪪 Once validated, please ensure that, when you display your Digital ID in the app, that it shows the ‘PASS’ virtual Hologram, alongside name & date-of-birth.
  • ⚠️ Ensure that: You know how to display the FULL information when you open the Digital ID, including selecting that Name, and Date-of-Birth be displayed.

NOTE: We are fairly confident this system will only be available to UK citizens.

THE RESULTING ID SHOULD LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS, WITH AN ANIMATED PASS HOLOGRAM, AND SHOWING BOTH NAME AND DATE-OF-BIRTH:

ONLY Digital ID Connect services will be accepted, and only when the virtual PASS hologram appears on the Digital ID, in conjunction with your name and Date-of-Birth.

“What if I have a problem with verification?”

We are not able to make exceptions if you have any support or verification issues with the identity provider, any more than we could when you are verifying for physical ID.

The same requirement stands regardless of whether you intend to present physical ID, or Digital: No ID = No Conbadge

Other Questions

“Can I still use other ID methods?”

Yes, all the other forms of ID we previously accepted, will continue to be recognised.

“Can I use a screenshot or photo of the ID?”

Screenshots or photos of the ID app are not accepted. Photos of physical ID are not accepted.

“Why might I use this instead of physical ID documents / cards?”

We’re introducing this to provide an alternative way to feel confident you have your ID with you. We understand the pain of getting to the reg collection desk, only to realise you’ve left your ID documentation at home.

We want to provide options and choices, and recognise forms of ID that might be more convenient to you, without compromising our verification of identity and age.

“I don’t want to hand over my personal data to these companies.”

You don’t have to. We’ll continue to accept other forms of ID, including all existing ones we have recognised in the past.

“Are you accepting Digital ID solutions from other countries?”

At this time, no. We are not able to provide any time-frames on whether we could extend Digital ID recognition to systems in use in countries other than the UK.
